HOUSTON, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- The number of active drilling rigs in the United States decreased by one to 802 as of Wednesday this week, down by 274 year-on-year, Baker Hughes said Wednesday.
These included 668 oil rigs operating in the U.S. oil fields, down by three; 131 gas drilling rigs, up by two; and miscellaneous rigs remained at three, unchanged from last week, the Houston-based oilfield services company reported.
Of the 802 rigs, 780 are land drilling ones, down by one; and offshore drilling ones remained at 22, unchanged from last week, it said.
Of them, 53 are directional drilling rigs, 701 are horizontal drilling rigs and 48 are vertical drilling rigs, it added.
As of Wednesday, the number of drilling rigs increased the most by two to seven rigs in the state of Alaska, while Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Wyoming lost one rig respectively.
