FUZHOU, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese mixed doubles pairs dominated the 2018 HSBC Badminton World Federation World Tour Super 750 China Fuzhou Open on Friday and secured three berths in the semifinals.
The mixed doubles quarterfinals saw strong play from three Chinese pairs who took down their opponents to move into the semis together.
First-seeded Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong outplayed world No. 8 Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai from Thailand 21-10, 19-21, 21-11. The Chinese duo never missed any wins against the Thais in their previous encounters this season, including the China Open and the Denmark Open.
Second seed Wang Yilyu/Huang Dongping beat Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Okravianti from Indonesia, 18-21, 21-16, 21-14. He Jiting/Du Yue revenged the third seed Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir from Indonesia 21-18, 21-19. The Chinese duo lost the last encounter at Asia Championships.
Second seed in men's singles Shi Yuqi played against the 8th seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia. The 22-year-old Shi won the previous two encounters this season at Asian Games and German Open.
He fell behind 10-11 at the changeover in the opener before losing the first set 21-16. Bouncing back to win the following two sets with the same result of 21-14, Shi advanced to the semis to face the fourth-seeded Chinese Taipei shuttler Chou Tien Chen, who outplayed the fifth seed Kidambi Srikanth from India in the quarters.
Sixth seed Chen Long overcame Anders Antonsen from Denmark 21-18, 21-16 to advance to the semis to meet the current world No. 1 Kento Momota, who knocked down the seven seed Son Wan Ho from South Korea. Chen collected the win 2-0 against the Japanese rising star in the semis at French Open two weeks ago.
The 8th seed in women's singles He Bingjiao kept her winning streak over the third seed Pusarla V. Sindhu of India 21-17, 17-21, 21-15, after the previous victories at Indonesian Open and French Open this season.
"Sindhu is good at smashing, but today she gave me too many chances to smash," said He, "usually I did not shout on court but today I shout aloud to cheer myself up. In the last few minutes she attacked too strong to catch up, but she made turnovers to smash out of the bound."
Her opponent in the semis is the 7th seed Nozomi Okuhara of Japan who defeated her compatriot Sayka Takahashi. He Bingjiao never took a win out of the total four encounters against Okuhara before.

In men's doubles, He Jiting/Tan Qiang challenged their compatriots, second seed duo Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen 21-15, 14-21, 21-19 to secure a semis position. Another spot was booked by the third seed pair Liu Cheng/Zhang Nan who grabbed the win 2-0 over Liao Min Chun/Su Ching Heng from Chinese Taipei.
China's only pair in the quarterfinals of women's doubles Li Wenmei/Zheng Yu stopped the tour by losing to the second seed Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi from Japan 21-13, 21-15. Enditem
