Canadian stock market falls to two-week low as oil prices down

TORONTO, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Canada's main stock index fell to a more than two-week low Monday as weaker oil prices pressured energy shares while materials and financials groups also fell.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index

Fell 59.53 points, or 0.37 percent, to close the day at 16,016.14 points. Nine of the 10 main groups ended lower.

The Canadian dollar edged 0.16 cent to 0.76.92 U.S.

The energy group lost 0.8 percent, with major oil producer Suncor Energy Inc down 1.2 percent to 50.17 Canadian dollars.

The financials group declined 0.2 percent.

The materials group, which includes precious and base metals miners and fertilizer companies, dropped 0.9 percent.
