MOSCOW, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- A total of 49 people have been affected by a food poisoning outbreak in the Republic of Buryatia in Russia's Far East, local health authorities said Sunday.
Regional Health Minister Evgenia Ludupova said 40 people, including 22 children, have been hospitalized. One patient remains in intensive care.
Laboratory tests have confirmed 11 cases of salmonellosis, Ludupova said, adding that the outbreak was linked to poor-quality prepared food produced by a local company. ■
