CAIRO, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi inaugurated the 4th edition of the Egypt Defense Expo here on Monday, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement.
During the opening, al-Sisi toured Egyptian pavilions showcasing domestic military production and other fields, and was briefed on various projects, including a joint howitzer manufacturing initiative, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Minister of Defense and Military Production Abdel-Mageed Saqr said the expo has become a key global platform for showcasing advanced defense technologies.
Saqr noted that in a period of regional and global challenges, maintaining readiness to confront dangers and threats is imperative.
The four-day expo, being held at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre, features over 400 defense and security companies displaying the latest military technology, equipment and systems across land, sea and air domains, and attracts military personnel, government officials, international delegations and industry professionals. ■
