KATHMANDU, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Pledged foreign direct investments (FDI) in Nepal more than doubled in the first three months of the current 2025-26 fiscal year, the Department of Industry said on Sunday.
Nepal received FDI pledges worth 35.13 billion Nepali rupees (249.42 million U.S. dollars) between mid-July and mid-October, up from 15.42 billion rupees during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
The commitments went to 311 projects, with the aim of creating 33,814 new jobs, the department noted in a report.
The information and communication technologies sector and the tourism sector were most favored by investors, the report said. (1 Nepali rupee equals 0.0071 U.S. dollars) ■
