ALMATY, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Daniil Medvedev battled past Australian qualifier James Duckworth 6-7 (8), 6-3, 6-2 on Saturday to reach the 2025 Almaty Open final.
Duckworth, whose run from qualifying included wins over two seeded players, pushed the world No. 4 hard in the opening set, saving two set points before edging the tiebreak 10-8. But Medvedev quickly steadied, breaking twice in the second set and again early in the third as his consistency from the baseline wore down the 33-year-old Australian.
In the other semifinal, France's Corentin Moutet advanced with a 7-5, 6-4 win over America's Alex Michelsen, relying on his variety and control to blunt the 20-year-old's power.
Medvedev and Moutet will meet in Sunday's final. ■
